We fall and think for a moment we've been forgotten, the world has moved on a millimetre whilst we have remained rooted down, slipping through the gaps between people's eyes and their words. It's so subtle, little by a sister's cruel word, the low slung boys' taunts. The crash of every door we've ever been through being slammed in. We gather ourselves and put on uniforms and drive faster, we're in the ambulance; we're on street crossing without looking. We drive on, unaware we've run the pedestrians over. You and I, we're royalty now.
