January 3 Plan ahead warning for city centre junction work

The announcement was exactly as he’d feared, the local council had been infiltrated by communists and wealth redistributors, as he’d been saying to all that would listen for months.

Maurice Banks thought he was ready, the first of his family to open a small to medium sized business, holidayed abroad twice a year and liked to say he spoke his mind. The kind of man that, if convicted of a heinous crime, neighbours would refer to as a larger-than-life character who always said hello and gave generously to charity collections.

Those at the chamber of commerce understood had was really happening, and those he messaged on a more exclusive WhatsApp group had made plans, most of which were legal and non-violent.

But still, he falters, even facing the threat of effectively allowing just anyone to go anywhere Maurice was unsure how far he could go. Growing up, before he’d found his way he'd even dreamed of going to Art School, but that was long ago now. Yet, as he sits there, he finds himself remembering a folk song his father used to sing, about everyone living in little boxes and all being the same under the skin or something, but famously, the times they are a changing.

Maurice checks his phone one last time before leaving.
